Another study has recently been done which indicates that switching to diet drinks actually INCREASES your risk of Type II Diabetes.
The bottom line is this: we humans think we can outsmart our own bodies by chemically engineering drinks that taste like sugar but don’t act like sugar. The problem is, our body, when it tastes something so sweet like Aspartame (one of the most commonly used artificial sweeteners), produces more insulin in response, because it still thinks it’s dealing with sugar. Over time, this leads to more problematic diabetes, not less.
